Global Indian International School Kuala Lumpur (GIIS KL) recently hosted a one-of-a-kind Open Day unlike any other – "Reading is Magic!" – in collaboration with BookXcess, one of the largest bookstore chains in Malaysia.. This event brought together over 200 potential and existing parents for a celebration of the power of reading.

The day's most popular event was the coloring and painting competitions, where children and parents unleashed their inner Picassos. They were given colors and tools to bring their drawings and coloring to life.

Students of all backgrounds took center stage in the Storytelling Competition, captivating audiences with their delightful tales enhanced by props – a true showcase of confidence and captivating storylines.

The magic of literature came alive at the book fair held in the auditorium, where parents stocked up on captivating reads at fantastical discounts, ensuring their home libraries were brimming with new adventures.

The prestigious Mr. & Ms. Cambridge competition also held its semi-final and final rounds, adding another layer of excitement. Twenty students, meticulously chosen based on their preliminary performances, donned their finest ballroom attire and showcased their talents. Only the most exceptional made it to the finals, where they faced a test of general knowledge based on their chosen countries from the preliminary round.

GIIS KL also made sure no one was left behind on that day. A petting zoo featuring goats, vibrant parrots, fluffy ducklings, and adorable rabbits brought smiles and glistening eyes to the faces of countless children. There was also an Easter egg hunt, designed for children aged 4 to 8, that saw enthusiastic young adventurers scouring the playground, their excitement as contagious as their smiles.

GIIS KL's "Reading is Magic" wasn't just an Open Day; it was a celebration of stories, imagination, and the joy of learning. It was a day where families came together, where creativity bloomed, and where the magic of reading truly came alive!
